Plant A Tree & Plant A Memory

This site is in memory of my twin sister Debra Bledsoe (Debbie).  We have been twins for 51 years.  Debra lost her battle with breast cancer on January 30, 2007.  When cancer came into her life 17 years ago she faced it the same way she faced everything, head on.  Being the stronger twin, she fought fiercely and courageously.  All the time I was taking care of her, she was really taking care of me.  Debbie and I have shared closeness as twins that most people will never experience.  She will always be with me.  The two us will never part - friends forever from the start.

In her memory, our family started a living memorial, the “Trail of Memories” in her honor.  We have trees available for families to adopt in memory of their lost loved ones.  The Trail of Memories will allow us all to share our pain and grief with others who have lost a loved one.  Our Trail of memories can become a trail of caring and support.  We believe that this trail of living memory can mean so very much to everyone.  We hope the path will help others with their loss.

The location is on the West Side of the Aquatic Park, south of George Ray Road in Butler, Missouri.  With the endorsement and support of the Bates County Community Health Foundation, and the City of Butler, our dream has become a reality.

The generosity of the Bates County Community Health Foundation and the Bates County Memorial Hospital, has made it possible to extend the Trail of Memories to the Hospital grounds. The new portion of the trail passes through the City Park and crosses on to the Hospital grounds across from the tennis courts.    Our first family to purchase a tree for their loved one, on the expanded trail, is the Roy Teeman family.
